Wall Safes Vs. Floor SafesBy Derek Rogers
In any business safes are very important. Their name is well chosen because they do a great job of keeping both documents and multimedia safe. When choosing a decent safe you need to determine exactly what your needs are. If your business is one that is protect to accidents and fire, then it would probably be a good idea to get a waterproof one.
But what about other factors? What type of safe should you get exactly when it comes to the physical location? As you know there are both floor safes, and there are wall safes. You know both are good for storing documents and media, but you're rather unsure of what type you need. There are a few factors that you are going to need to consider when you make your decision.
Look at what sort of things you do in your business. Do you handle a lot of money? Do you have highly sensitive documents? Media that you simply cannot afford to lose? Do you need your safe to be hidden, or do you need it to be difficult to steal?
A floor safe is much more difficult to steal. Some safes may weigh up to eight hundred pounds and even be equipped with a time lock so that it can only be open during certain times of the day. This type of safe is excellent if you are dealing with payroll checks are large sums of money. Remember though, these will be in plain sight and therefore it is a lot easier for them to be stolen. Remember this well when you choose what type of safe you are going to buy. On the upside these are incredibly strong and will usually withstand insane amounts of heat, so you'll never have to worry about losing anything that is stored within.
A wall safe can be concealed very easily. You can hide it behind a poster or a picture, or you could just have it sitting out in plain sight. For the most part people will go to great lengths to hide them. Typically these are a lot smaller than floor safes, so one thing that you need to take into consideration is how much space you actually need. It's possible to have an extremely deep wall safe so long as you have an extremely deep wall and some sort of structure to support the thing once it's been placed in the wall. If you have it poking out the other side people are going to catch on rather quickly. With that in mind, remember that a wall safe might be easier to steal than a regular floor safe because it is fairly simple to remove a wall section if you're very dedicated.
There are advantages to having both types, meaning that you're going to need to evaluate your needs closely and decide which one is best. Remember that if you need to hide something, the wall safe is great, but most thieves have seen enough movies that they'll know to look behind every single picture. Nevertheless, the choice is yours and yours alone. Good luck, and keep those documents secure!
